Center for Advanced Bioinformatics Research (CABR) at SWU “Neofit Rilski”, Blagoevgrad is university unit to implement on:

  1. Research, teaching and project activities of members in areas: Bioinformatics, Drug-receptor design, Discrete mathematics, Biotechnology, Biomechanics, Quantum mechanics, Epigenetics interactions, Biomedical engineering, Computer science, IT, etc.;
  2. Practical education, experimental development and project work of students from different master, bachelor and PhD courses as: Informatics, Bioinformatics, Computer Systems and Technology, Physics, Chemistry, Geography, Economics, Massage Therapy, Pedagogy of physical education, Psychology, Speech Therapy, Social work, etc .;
  3. Developing of mathematical models, associated with the application of mathematics in biology, chemistry, physics, economics, etc., Solving practical problems from various fields of science and business.

CABR was created by decision of the Academic Council of SWU “Neofit Rilski”, protocol № 18/ 5.5.2013. CABR accomplished the abovementioned activities in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Bulgaria and the internal rules and regulations of the University. CABR is not limited by time or other termination condition.

Main goals

  1. Conducting of competitive research of professors, PhD students, graduates and students of SWU “Neofit Rilski” with high-tech equipment
  2. Provision of conditions for practical training of students from various specialties in the university by building skills and competencies in the curriculum.
  3. Developing a programs to inform the public in the face of leading research centers, regional, national and university and municipal structures associated with functional research in the bioinformatics and drug-receptor design.
  4. Developing a research projects by professors and students at the university, national and international financing funds and partnership.
  5. Building of experimental modules and professional environment for contacts and methodologies exchange with experts from leading foreign laboratories in different areas of bioinformatics research.
  6. Generation of research and applied research to support the implementation of scientific and environmentally friendly approaches in practical areas connected with the application of mathematical models in chemistry, biology, pharmacology and others.
  7. Building of conditions for continuous learning and professional development of assistants, PhD students and students in the university center.
  8. Study of the opportunities to create team of interdisciplinary specialists that can perform high scientific research in the bioinformatics and its application for the development of new drugs, methods and technologies for research in the bioinformatics.
